One of the most sought after vintage guitars is the Fender Stratocaster Pre-CBS. Fender Strats are one of the most popular electric guitars ever. The early models, from 1954 to 1965, are known as the "pre-CBS" models, since CBS Broadcaster Company bought the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation in January 1965. When CBS purchased Fender, the "pre-CBS" Stratocasters became quite rare and likewise expensive since they are perceived to be made of a higher quality when compared with the post-CBS models. Recently, some pre-CBS strats have sold more than $175,000.

The Fender Stratocaster, aka the Strat, is a model of electric guitar designed by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Freddie Tavares in 1954. It's currently still in production. It's a double cutaway guitar, with an extended top horn for balance while standing. The Stratocaster has been a popular electric guitar since it's inception, used by amateurs and professionals alike. Along with the Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG, and the Fender Telecaster, it is one of the most common and enduring models of electric guitar in the world.
Note: Very first strat at age 13 was a red one! What memories.
