Charvel guitars started in the late 70's when, Wayne Charvel sold his small California guitar shop, Charvel's Guitar Repair, to one of his employees Grover Jackson.
Jackson then began to build electric guitars under the Charvel name. Just a few years later, Jackson met with then Ozzy Osbourne's new young guitarist, Randy Rhoads and the two began to develop a guitar, designed by Rhoads himself that quickly turned the company into a success. However, before releasing the new Rhoads guitar, later dubbed the Flying V, Jackson added his name at the last minute to the headstock, thereby creating the Jackson guitar brand. Over 25 years later, the Randy Rhoads guitar continues as the top selling Jackson today.
