Goya guitars were in production from the mid 50's to around '96. The company made a variety of different models, ranging from nylon and steel string acoustic guirars, to solidbody electric guitars and even made banjos, amps, a variety of string instruments. The Goya name originated from the Spanish painter, Francisco Jose de Goya, the 18th century Spanish painter, who was considered one of the last "Old Masters" and a painter who reguararly painted Spanish guitars. The Goya guitar name used used by the Hershman Musical Instrument Company of New York City, in the 50's for acoustic guitars made in Sweden by the Levin company.
